This major text, of which we have more than a hundred copies in remarkable condition, evolved over the following century. It was thus completed, amended and sometimes annotated by other anonymous authors. A true literary success in the 15th century, the work was even read publicly in order to teach the crowds. It is the story of this reception that Antoine Brix describes during this program. After tracing the genesis and development of the work, he describes its literary and iconographic characteristics. Then, he shows how this text became "the most universal history book in French in the literate society of the late Middle Ages". The guest: Antoine Brix is a doctor of the Catholic University of Louvain (2018), member of the Institute of Research and History of Texts (Paris) and professor of History of the European Middle Ages at the Normal University of Beijing.
