Can I Save This 1954 Oliver Portable Typewriter if the Mainspring Doesn't Move at ALL!
On New Years Eve 2025 (going into 2026) I found this 1954 Oliver Portable (Patria) in an antique shop in the heartland of Illinois. It looked dusty but salvagable until I noticed that the mainspring wasn't moving at all. The carriage wouldn't move right all at and when I move it left the string just stays in place. Will it type again?! Links: "The Oliver Typewriter: The Standard Visible Writer" by Jett Morton: https://olivertypewriters.com/shop/p/...
