As many of you know from the Christmas video, I was spending £72,000 per year on AutoTrader. That’s a huge amount of money going out of the business… and after reading your comments and looking properly at the numbers, I decided something had to change. So I’ve done it. I’ve halved my AutoTrader package. But to make that work, I’ve also had to halve my stock levels. Instead of filling the forecourt with lots of older, cheaper cars, I’m now focusing on fewer, newer, higher-quality cars — tying up more money in each vehicle, but aiming for stronger margins, better preparation standards, and less stress overall.
