Built in the 16th century by an affluent family, the residence began as a solid rectangular property with a broad entrance hall and working yard, before passing into another influential line. In the 17th century, new wings, larger stores, and a stone staircase were added, and the main hall received ornate timber ceilings – a show of wealth. In the mid-18th century, a brother and sister rebuilt the residence, endowed the chapel and marble tomb, and raised the twin corner pavilions that still define its distinctive silhouette. Through the 19th century, marriages tied the estate to other families in the province, and the coat of arms above the entrance changed with each new alliance. However, with agricultural crises, fluctuating trade patterns, and higher taxes, finances were strained. By the century’s end, the manor was used only seasonally, its rooms closed as heirs left for city careers. The 20th century brought piped water, wiring, and attic partitions. However, inheritance fractured ownership, and progress stalled beyond minor repairs. A caretaker family kept part of the ground floor alive for a time, until they too left. A failed restoration followed, and the house eventually fell into complete disrepair.
