#hyundaiinster #citycar #ev The Hyundai INSTER is the brand’s smallest EV & smallest car in the range overall. Originally the INSTER was released in South Korea as the Casper featuring a Hybrid powertrain. A choice of 3 trims are available; 01, 02 & top-spec Cross which features more rugged SUV-inspired styling. A 42kWh & 49kWh long range battery is offered, providing an official WLTP range of up to 229 miles. To keep the INSTER competitive, Hyundai is offering the Hyundai Electric Grant, reducing the list price of the car by £3,750! On top of this Hyundai is currently offering a £750 deposit contribution (as of February 2026), meaning the INSTER is one of the most competitively priced EVs on the market. Many manufacturers are introducing small EVs, with competition from the Renault 5, Fiat 500e & the BYD Dolphin Surf, I think the ‘Tardis’ like small exterior, yet large interior mean the INSTER is a sensible, practical choice and I do like the quirky design. The performance figures on paper don’t sound too impressive, but in reality the INSTER felt pretty nippy and perfect for the town and city.
