Роберт Сапольски: проект дегуманизации

The denial of free will is a persistent tendency among many representatives of modern cognitive science. The consequences of denying free will can be devastating for society and human civilization as a whole. Robert Sapolsky and others like him (for example, Derek Pereboom, Daniel Wegner, Saul Smilansky, and many others) follow the denial of free will by discarding (as "outdated") the concepts of guilt, punishment, responsibility, and retribution. By doing so, they hope to restructure the system of social relations, reduce aggression in society, and make society more "humane." But in reality, they participate in a process of dehumanization and preach a new and very dangerous form of racism. After all, they talk about people who are "lucky with biology" and those who are "unlucky with biology." Of course, it is assumed that people with "good biology" should rule. "Goodnessists" do not blame the "bad guys" for crimes and bad deeds. No, they simply propose limiting the "bad guys," perhaps even isolating them. No, it's not punishment, it's the optimization of social relations. But why do the good guys think this is better? And that they themselves are better than the bad guys? After all, "better" no longer has any meaning for Sapolsky (nor does "worse"). So maybe let the bad guys rule? Let them hunt down and "naturalize" the good guys, reducing their biology to their level. To protect themselves. Has humanity come a long way in cultural and civilizational development only to end up with this shallow biologism and racism? I really don't want that to happen. And I really want this fashionable modern biologism to take pride of place in the absurdities of the past—theories like racism, eugenics, and other delights of a naturalistic understanding of the world.
