Bikepacking West Africa 🇸🇳🇬🇲🇬🇼 | 700km solo expedition
On Christmas Day 2025, I set off on an unsupported bikepacking journey that would take me 720km through the heart of West Africa. Starting in Dakar, Senegal, and finishing in Bissau, Guinea Bissau, this 10-day adventure was more than just a bike ride—it was a deep dive into some of the most vibrant landscapes on the continent. From the red gravel roads of the interior to wild camping under the stars by rivers and lagoons, every kilometer offered a new perspective. But beyond the breathtaking nature, this trip was an eye-opening encounter with the local cultures and a reflection on the complex history left behind by European colonization.
