After over 600 km, our opinion of the much-talked-about Grande Panda Hybrid is more than positive: distinctive style, well-managed onboard space, and excellent fuel economy, though some details could be improved. Yes, it's true, the Grande Panda is not a 100% Fiat: underneath it lies a Citroen C3, but it has been appropriately shaped and modified to become a "real" Panda. Once inside, you're greeted by a cheerful interior, similar in concept to the exterior, plus there's plenty of room for both cargo and passengers. Consider that luggage can boast a minimum capacity of 412 liters, a figure well above the 310 liters of its sister model, the Citroen C3. And it's precisely the Grande Panda's spaciousness that convinces, both in terms of passenger space and luggage. Under the hood is a 1.2-liter, 110-hp, three-cylinder turbo engine paired with a 21-kW electric motor, housed within a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and powered by a 48V lithium-ion battery. This unit allows the car to travel for a few meters in electric mode, both when starting and maneuvering, thus reducing fuel consumption, especially in urban areas. List prices start at €18,900 for the Pop trim, rising to €20,400, while the top-of-the-line La Prima trim costs €22,900.
