The border town is located on a small promontory in front of Hendaye (France) over the bay of Txingudi. A service boat makes the trip between the two cities. The city is home to an ancient old town with walls and a castle. Besides, Hondarribia has a beach on the other side of the Bidasoa from the Sokoburu tourist development in Hendaye, next to a mountain called Jaizkibel that provides a mountainous backdrop to the town. A road leads northeast from the beach area to Cape Higuer, located in this municipality. The city is home to the San Sebastián airport, which serves domestic flights.
