Can This Poor Fool Afford to Study Nursing in the Philippines? (as an American)

In today’s video, I’m sharing some exciting thoughts about my future and how I’m exploring new opportunities here in the Philippines! At 32, I’ve been getting questions like, “What’s next for you?” and “How do you plan to avoid going broke?” While being a YouTuber has been rewarding, I’m also considering practical options for long-term stability. Here on the beautiful campus of Silliman University in Dumaguete, I’m discussing my idea of enrolling in their nursing program. The Philippines is world-renowned for its healthcare training, and with tuition and living costs here being a fraction of what they are in the U.S., it seems like a no-brainer. Imagine graduating debt-free, gaining a quality education, and having the potential to earn a great salary as a nurse in the U.S. I’m also diving into topics like: Why studying abroad could be a game-changer for Americans. The challenges of U.S. student loan debt and the rising cost of education. How institutions like Silliman provide affordable, high-quality programs. My perspective as a non-traditional student and the benefits of studying in the Philippines. Let me know in the comments—what do you think about educational tourism? Have you or anyone you know pursued studies abroad for a career in healthcare or another field? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
