In this video, we'll show you how to remove the V159 throttle position motor (actuator) for the air conditioning system on the left side of the front passenger footwell on a Volkswagen Golf 5 Mk5, GTI, and Jetta in 13 easy steps. According to the owner, the problem with this throttle motor is that there was a plastic rattling noise at the bottom of the dashboard in the passenger footwell when the temperature was set to 22 degrees Celsius. When we connect the VCDS or VAGCOM diagnostic tool and run output tests for the V159 engine, it reports that it doesn't detect the position of the servo motor. Remove the plastic cover on the right side of the dashboard and two plastic parts using a trim removal tool. 2. Remove the plastic cover on the left and unscrew the bolt from the inside using a T20 Torx wrench. 3. Remove the plastic part. 4. Remove the foam above the passenger's feet (there are two plastic screws on it that need to be unscrewed). 5. Open the glove box and unscrew the three screws on the top and three screws on the bottom using a T20 Torx wrench. 6. Remove the plastic cover above the ashtray using a trim removal tool. 7. Unscrew this screw using a T20 Torx wrench, remove the glove box, and unscrew the plugs at the back. 8. Remove the hose that supplies air to the glove box. 9. Remove the plastic tube from the passenger's feet using a T20 Torx wrench to remove the screw. 10. Remove the 3 screws from the servo motor using a T15 Torx key or a 15mm socket. 11. Disconnect the connector from the servo motor, then rotate the servo motor to remove it from the plastic arm.
