One enclosure that instantly sounds like jazz #jazzviolin

One little enclosure that instantly makes your phrases sound like jazz. 🎻 An enclosure is a way of surrounding your target note — approaching it from above and below — instead of just landing on it. It builds a little tension, and when you finally arrive, it feels earned. That's the "jazzy" sound. In this lesson I break down my favorite enclosure step by step: what it is and why it works, the rhythm that brings it to life, how it sounds in a real musical line, the same shape over major, minor, and dominant chords, and how to practice it in every key so it becomes part of your playing. This lives at the heart of what I call Targeting — chord-tone playing — and it's one of the most useful tools I know for sounding more like jazz. I'm Tomoko Omura, jazz violinist and composer.
