Today, we're joined by Mentor Jang In-hong to introduce various methods for preventing freeze damage to persimmon trees. The insulation materials used in this video were rice straw, newspaper, water pipe insulation, and non-woven freeze-damage bandages. The insulation material Mentor most recommended was rice straw. Tying with straw instead of string seemed simpler. He also showed us how to pile up soil to reduce freeze damage to young seedlings. This method involves covering the grafted area with about 10cm of soil to prevent freeze damage. This method effectively prevents freeze damage by protecting the seedlings with invisible geothermal heat. However, the most important thing is to first understand the location and weather conditions of your persimmon tree and effectively prevent freeze damage.
