【4K】 Red Light District Ghosts - Cheonho's Prostitution Zone - 천호동 텍사스촌│Seoul, Korea

For this week I've decided to bring you off the beaten path once again and I had no idea what to expect when going there, but turns out that it is a super interesting vestige of another era. The once extremely popular red-light district of Cheonho is now just a ruin that is about to become dust to make place for a new apartment building complex. So this is pretty much a last glimps at that notorious place. 약 50여년의 세월동안 자리잡았던 천호동 텍사스촌과 천호시장 터에 재개발, 재건축 공사가 한창입니다. Cheonho means "Thousand of Houses", because its geographical location was believed to be an ideal place to live based on the Feng shui theory. In addition, there is a historical site of Pungnaptoseong, which is a flat earthen wall built at the edge of the Han River in the Baekje Era. Cheonho-dong is the only place where a huge department store such as Hyundai Department Store is located in the area of Gangdong-gu. Although prostitution is illegal in Korea, there is a long-established red-light district in Cheonho, known as "Texas Village". Since the introduction of the law banning prostitution in 2004 the number of brothels has declined, however in late 2018 there were still dozens of brothels in the area.
