KTM-Klon? CFMOTO 800 NK Test – Kann das Herz aus Österreich auch im Chinabike überzeugen?

No wonder, since the design comes from the home of motorcycle aesthetics: Italy. The Rimini-based design studio Modena 40 has served as CFMoto's European R&D center for four years and is responsible for the designs of most of the new models. Mastermind Carles Solsona, although Spanish himself, has already left a significant mark on the motorcycle world: for example, the design of the legendary MV Agusta Brutale and Dragster models is his work. But now to the CFMoto 800NK. This lean naked bike is, of course, based on the KTM 790 Duke and is also built in the same factory in China. However, not as many parts are shared as one might initially think. Essentially, it's "only" the engine, the transmission, and the steel trellis main frame. The subframe, the aluminum swingarm, the suspension, and all the electronics are completely independent and were developed solely by CFMoto. Before we get to the riding impressions, let's take a quick spin around the bike and start with the engine – because it, too, isn't entirely the same as the 790 Duke's. While the hardware is identical, the tuning, especially the mappings, has been recalibrated. The peak power of 95 hp matches that of the Duke, but the maximum torque is slightly lower: 79 Nm instead of 87 Nm like its orange sibling. The suspension, in turn, is equipped with Kayaba components: 43 mm USD forks at the front and a single shock absorber at the rear, both fully adjustable. However, the suspension travel is significantly shorter at 140/130 mm compared to the KTM's 150/150 mm. CFMoto, however, goes even bigger with the brakes: 320mm discs at the front (with radially mounted 4-piston calipers) and a 260mm disc at the rear clearly exceed the dimensions of the KTM. The brakes are supplied by J.Juan. The tires are then on par: CFMoto also fits a full-size 180-section rear tire, and the thin-spoked cast aluminum wheels, like those on the 790 Duke, are fitted with Maxxis tires. CFMoto takes a completely different approach to rider aids than KTM and the other competitors in this segment. Apart from the mandatory ABS (a 2-channel Bosch system), no other electronic safety systems are installed, not even traction control. Instead, even the base 800NK Sport model comes equipped with a host of "intelligence electronics": The easy-to-read 5-inch TFT display offers app connectivity with a variety of functions, and cruise control is also standard. Those who want even more can opt for the better-equipped "Advanced" version starting at the end of the year. In addition to a quickshifter, steering damper, tapered aluminum handlebars, and electronic key, it even features an 8-inch TFT touchscreen that mounts vertically like a tablet. This system already includes integrated navigation and is also the first system in the motorcycle world to offer wireless Apple CarPlay. #cfmoto #800nk
