At the conclusion of her weekend tour, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo led the start of construction of the Mexico City-Querétaro passenger train from the municipality of Pedro Escobedo. She stated that this is a long-standing dream that military engineers will make a reality, and a project of great importance for the center of the country. The journey will be reduced to two hours via 226 kilometers of track. It will benefit the metropolitan areas of the Valley of Mexico, Querétaro, and surrounding municipalities. The president explained that this train, along with the Mexico City-Pachuca route already under construction, is part of a comprehensive plan for the Republic: Yesterday, she led the start of construction of the Mayan Train freight service in the southeast, which will help the region and its industrial and agricultural development centers in terms of freight transportation. In Palenque, the Maya Train joins the Interoceanic Train to cross the Isthmus of Tehuantepec from Salina Cruz to Coatzacoalcos. The federal government is working to complete the railway that runs from Salina Cruz to Chiapas; from Coatzacoalcos, it will reach the Dos Bocas refinery to boost the movement of hydrocarbons. The federal chief executive noted that the trains will also reach the north. From Mexico City, the routes will arrive in Querétaro, Irapuato, and from there to Nogales. Via the Gulf of Mexico, the train will reach Nuevo Laredo. Therefore, she emphasized that Querétaro will become an important passenger service center. This is the northern railway, which will also extend to the Pacific via Guadalajara. She announced that construction of the train to Irapuato will begin no later than July, and that the Tampico-Nuevo Laredo route will begin this year. She reaffirmed her commitment to build more than 3,000 kilometers of trains throughout her six-year term. She urged the public to support military engineers to more quickly complete the Mexico City-Querétaro train; she said it will be completed to the Escobedo station before the end of 2027. She also mentioned that, in honor of Josefa Ortiz, the final station will be named La Corregidora. Finally, the president announced that the Ministry of National Defense, through Gafsacomm, will be in charge of managing these trains to ensure they are not privatized.
