An Edmonton school bus driver is prime minister in exile of East Turkistan

An Alberta man has been living a double life since arriving in Canada more than two decades ago. Abdulahat Nur drives a bus in Edmonton, shuttling children to and from school each day. In his free time, he is also the democratically elected prime minister of a government in exile – serving a people experiencing, leading human rights organizations say, oppression and genocide. Nur is the elected prime minister in exile of East Turkistan, a resource-rich region in northwestern China that is the ancestral homeland of the Uyghur people.
