Welcome to the analysis of FROM CHAPTER 2. In this chapter we witness the birth of Moses, a child preserved by God for a special purpose. Because of Pharaoh's order to kill the male children of Israel, Moses' mother hid him for three months, then placed him in a basket on the banks of the Nile River. Pharaoh's daughter saw the child and took pity on him, raising him as her own son. This chapter also describes how Moses grew up, how he stood up for an Israelite who was being oppressed, and how he fled to the land of Midian after fearing Pharaoh's punishment. In Midian, Moses started a new life, married, and had a family. At the end of this chapter, God heard the cry of the children of Israel who were suffering in slavery in Egypt.
