Kenya reclaims Its Wildlife Heritage: Return of 17 Endangered Mountain Bongos
It’s a significant milestone for Kenya in reclaiming the wildlife taken during the fight for independence. The country has welcomed back 17 mountain bongos, a third-generation lineage of the endangered antelope species taken in the 1960s. The rare animals arrived from a U.S. conservation center on Sunday evening and were transported to Meru, where they will undergo quarantine before gradually reintegrating into their natural habitat. their return marks a monumental step in Kenya’s conservation efforts.
