Mayrah and Anna, involved in a youth project by Werkstatt Zukunft, in conversation with educational researcher Prof. Dr. Paul Mecheril, formerly head of the CMC – Center for Migration, Education and Cultural Studies at the University of Oldenburg, now a professor in Bielefeld specializing in migration pedagogy and cultural work. For successful vocational training, the same principles apply to migrants as to everyone else: They should have the opportunity to lead a secure livelihood that does not endanger their health, and they should be able to lead a dignified life beyond their professional activities. To achieve this, the vocational training system should, as far as possible, avoid systems of ethnic discrimination.
