Local Elections: Pledges to shake up public transport in the West Midlands
Labour's candidate for West Midlands Mayor has promised a massive shake up of the public transport network. Richard Parker says he will bring buses back under public ownership. The Conservatives though say the move is likely to cost many millions of pounds more than Labour estimates, and is a risk to the taxpayer. Andy Street, who is seeking re-election, says he will introduce capped fares on trams, trains, and buses. The election is this coming Thursday.
