The freight rail yard Port Station Hamburg South is one of the most important rail yards of Hamburg's Port Railroad as part of the Rail Infrastructure division of the Hamburg Port Authority. This rail yard is kind of the link between big parts of the Hamburg port rail network and the big main lines stretching out into all directions across the country. This is where long distance freight trains take over the trains from the port.
