10 лет в поле без света и газа: Семья из Приднестровья строит ферму под Калугой
Another story about people who break the mold, defy stereotypes about the provinces, and live contrary to the rules of modern megacities. Ivan and Yuri Kangash. Ten years ago, they arrived from Transnistria and bought land in a vast, bare field near Kaluga. They left behind a large, comfortable house in their homeland to pursue their dream of building their own farm in Russia. For a decade now, this stubborn family has lived without electricity or gas, relying solely on solar panels and their own labor. But the farm hasn't yet generated a stable income. While everyone else is looking for easy money and office comfort, Ivan got a 5/2 job in Moscow, bringing all his earnings home and investing in construction, greenhouses, and livestock feed. Together with his father, an agronomist, they hand-tie thousands of tomato plants, grow flowers, and raise sheep and goats, affectionately calling one of them "The Crazy Empress." You'd think people wouldn't do that these days—working two jobs to buy a small hut in the field, or planning to restore a watermill when their health is failing with each passing year. But father and son are convinced: a person finds true strength on their own land. We spent a day with them to tell their amazing story. And instead of standard computer graphics, we use something not typically found in documentaries about the provinces—original paper animation, shot frame-by-frame at home. In these cartoons, you'll learn why the old Soviet "Vladimirets" tractor became a national treasure in Mexico, how to properly pick tomatoes, and how the history of Kaluga villages is connected with Pushkin, Napoleon, and Yuri Luzhkov's bees. 00:00 — They Didn't Listen to the Ram: How We Got Lost on the Way to the Farm 00:12 — THEY DON'T DO THAT: How an Independent Documentary Was Glued Together with Paper Cartoons 01:51 — The Road Next to the Farm: The Pros and Cons of Living Next to a Waste Processing Plant 03:04 — 10 Years in the Open Field: How to Survive Without Electricity and Solar Panels 04:34 — Gosha: The Story of a Lamb Abandoned by His Mother 06:37 — From Flowers to Piglets: How Severe Budget Cuts Forced a Change of Farm 08:40 — From Transnistria to Russia: The Real Story of Ivan's Move and Documentation Issues 09:00 — Frozen Conflict: Why It's Hard to Be a Citizen of an Unrecognized Republic (Cartoon) 11:00 — Pink Paradise Variety: How Muscovites' Word of Mouth Ensured Sales Tomatoes 12:04 — Secrets of Sonning: How to Manually Process 1,000 Bushes in a Greenhouse (Cartoon) 13:44 — Farm Economics: Why People in Cities Have Forgotten the Taste of Real Meat 14:39 — Agritourism in Gribovo: Ivan's Big Plans for Leased Land 15:36 — Historian, Deacon, and Lecturer: An Unexpected Mentor, Andrei Klimov 16:10 — Bishop Filaret, Pushkin, and Family Swords: Legends of the Village of Gribovo (Cartoon) 19:25 — French Troops and a Cannonball in the Garden: How the Peasants of Gribovo Retook Napoleon's Cannon 20:25 — Guest Hosting Scheme: How to Revive a Forgotten Russian Village 25:52 — Tight Borders: Why Expanding a Business in Transnistria Is Impossible 27:31 — Only a Few Weeks a Year: How to Properly Organize Haymaking (Cartoon) 28:19 — Vladimirets T-25: How a Soviet Tractor Became a National Treasure in Mexico (Cartoon) 29:49 — Marriage Changes Everything: Why Ivan Had to Suddenly Leave His Comfort Zone 30:13 — 5/2 Schedule in Moscow: Where Does All the Earned Money Go? 31:20 — The City of Medyn, Catherine the Great, and Yuri Luzhkov's Honey Capital (Cartoon) 32:18 — Voenfilm Cinema Complex: How Medyn Turned into a Huge Film Set 32:34 — Red Rocket: A "Rare Porsche" That Won't Be Replaced at Any Price 33:41 — Evening Table Tennis Instead of Aches and Fatigue 35:22 — "There's Enthusiasm, But My Health Is Dying Fast": An Honest Conversation with a Father 37:26 — My Biggest Dream: Restore the Dam and Build a Watermill
