From the Barrios Altos neighborhood, located in the Cercado district of Lima, the Monastery of the Discalced Carmelite Nuns opens its doors to begin the grand triumphal procession of Our Most Holy Virgin of Mount Carmel of Lima. Our Queen and Beauty of Carmel emerges triumphantly amidst a large number of devout faithful who, from very early in the morning, arrived in the district also known as Carmen Alto, amidst much emotion and joy from the parishioners, the bearers, the incense bearers, and the singers, who are able to see her once again this year. NOTE: IT SHOULD BE INDICATED THAT THE TRIUMPHAL PROCESSION OF THE VIRGIN OF CARMEN TAKES PLACE DAYS BEFORE THE CARMELITE YEAR BEGINS IN JULY. LIKEWISE, THIS PROCESSION, AND SUBSEQUENT PROCESSIONAL ROUTE THROUGH THE STREETS OF THE BARRIOS ALTOS (Upper Neighborhoods), IS AN INVITATION PROCESSION WHERE VARIOUS GROUPS FROM DIFFERENT BROTHERHOODS OF LIMA AND THE PROVINCES ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE BY CARRYING ON THEIR SHOULDERS THE SACRED PLAQUE OF OUR HEAVENLY MOTHER, THE VIRGIN OF CARMEN OF LIMA.
