Guidance 16 The Last Work God Does to Give Answer and Fruit [Deuteronomy 7:1-7] 1 When the LORD your God will lead you into the land you are to possess, and drive out before you the nations—the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites—the seven nations that are more numerous and stronger than you— 2 The LORD your God will deliver them into your hands to strike you; then you shall destroy them completely. You shall make no covenant with them, nor have you shown them compassion. 3 You shall not intermarry with them, nor give your daughters to their sons, nor take their daughters as wives for your daughters-in-law, 4 for they will entice your sons to turn away from the LORD and serve other gods, and the LORD will be angry with you and suddenly destroy you. 5 But this is what you shall do to them: tear down their altars, smash their pillars, and cut down their Asherah poles. You shall burn the carved idols. 6 You are a holy people to the LORD your God.
