La danse de Mardi Gras - Devon's Tune of the Day 259

I've been seeing some great videos of Cajun & Creole Mardi Gras celebrations in Louisiana and it put me in mind to learn this classic tune from les coureurs de Mardi Gras. It's actually a song with words that talk about what the capitaine of Mardi Gras is doing and asking for from the community. Thanks to Natalie Rae Padilla who pointed out that the Balfa Brothers, from whom I learned this tune, are playing in fiddles tuned down a whole step to F-E-B-D. They just play the tune as is on the detuned fiddle, which would mean everyone else would have to play this in G minor? I kind of love that they wreck it for every other instrument since this is traditionally a twin fiddle tune I believe. Anyways, a great tune with a very French medieval sound and here is the original if you want to hear the song:    • The Balfa Brothers - La danse de Mardi Gras   Like and Subscribe if you're enjoying my 365 Tune of the Day Project!
