Is the thermostat really bad? | Understanding HVAC Electrical Concepts

In this video we will be looking at some basic checks to determine if the thermostat is really bad and if replacing it really necessary. I would swear that this is the most blamed component in the typical system and in my experience the most misdiagnosed. Sorry for the rant in the first couple minutes! No matter how it looks or how fancy it seems, I think of it as nothing but a bunch of switches. I also think that if you can get that in your head that you can better understand how to troubleshoot it. For those who haven't gotten their style of troubleshooting, and I guess in some ways their confidence in diagnosing, let me just say this...
