The entire line that both the Hiawatha Service and the Empire Builder use from Chicago to Milwaukee is called the Chicago and Milwaukee (C&M) subdivision, and is owned and operated by the Canadian Pacific Railroad (CP) through their U.S. subsidiary the Soo Line Railroad.
