Karina Maria Burns and Colt Jonathan McNeese have been arrested after their 2-year-old son was found covered in severe bruises during a welfare check in Burnsville, Minnesota. On June 4th, 2026, authorities responded to reports of possible child abuse and discovered the toddler with extensive bruising across his face, back, stomach, arms, legs, and sides, plus stitches on his forehead. A pediatrician later confirmed the injuries were consistent with physical abuse. Investigators uncovered over 100,000 text messages between the couple, along with photos and videos that allegedly document years of abuse. According to the criminal complaints, Burns (27) repeatedly shook, struck, punched, and threatened to kill their son — often sending evidence of the abuse to McNeese (27) in apparent retaliation when he didn’t respond to her messages while at work. The alleged incidents span from the child being an infant in 2024 through June 2026. Burns faces two counts of child torture, six counts of third-degree assault on a victim under 4, and one count of harassment. McNeese faces two counts of child endangerment causing substantial harm.
