Evening Lecture Series Fall 2020 Season: Brinda Kumar "On Gerhard Richter: Painting After All," recorded on October 21, 2020. Brinda Kumar is an Assistant Curator in the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. She completed her BFA in painting and printmaking from the College of Art, New Delhi; MA at the School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi; and received an MA and Ph.D. from Cornell University. She joined The Met in 2015, and worked on several exhibitions at The Met Breuer including Nasreen Mohamedi (2016), Unfinished: Thoughts Left Visible (2016), Like Life: Sculpture, Color, and the Body, 1300-Now (2018) and Home Is a Foreign Place: Recent Acquisitions in Context (2019). Earlier this year she was co-curator of the exhibition Gerhard Richter: Painting After All at The Met Breuer, which was scheduled to be on view from March 4 – July 5, 2020, but had to close prematurely due to the COVID-19 crisis. Most recently she co-curated the installation of Gerhard Richter: The Birkenau Paintings in the Robert Lehman Wing at The Met. Please consider making a gift to the Evening Lecture Series.
