Fuji. The area is dotted with numerous parks and observatories, making it an ideal spot to appreciate the mountain's breathtaking scenery. As a result, Kawaguchiko has become highly popular and is now one of the most visited destinations outside of Japan's major cities. HOW TO GET TO KAWAGUCHIKO Kawaguchiko is most accessible and affordable by bus from Tokyo. Direct buses are available from Shinjuku, Tokyo Station, and Shibuya, typically taking around 2 to 3 hours to reach Kawaguchiko. However, during peak travel times, traffic congestion can cause significant delays. Alternatively, you can take the Fuji Excursion limited express train directly from Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko Station, offering a fast and convenient option without the need to transfer. Another route is to take the JR Chuo Line from Shinjuku to Otsuki Station, then transfer to the Fujikyu Railway to reach Kawaguchiko Station. Popular accommodations now sell out 5-6 months in advance. You cannot book these last minute anymore. 1. Hotels located on the northern shore of Lake Kawaguchi offer the best views, as they provide a stunning sight of Mt. Fuji across the serene waters of the lake. Additionally, this area is the most peaceful. However, the downside is that it is farther from the train station and eateries. 2. It is highly recommended to book a room with both breakfast and dinner when staying in Kawaguchiko area. Although the area has some restaurants, most open late and close early, making the hotel's breakfast a convenient and reliable choice. Regarding dinner (and breakfast in some hotels), it is essential to arrive at your hotel's restaurant on time. If you are significantly late, the hotel may refuse to serve you, even if you have already paid for the meal. 3. As with many other destinations in Japan, most public onsens do not permit tattoos. If you wish to enjoy a hot spring experience, it’s best to book accommodations that offer private onsens. 4. Most hotels and resorts in Kawaguchiko offer complimentary transfer services, but advance reservation is required. Be sure to contact them beforehand if you need this service.
