CONTRAVÍA CAP 363. El Salado, 15 años después.

Between February 18 and 21, 2000, the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia unleashed a gruesome massacre in the El Salado district of the Carmen de Bolívar municipality in the Montes de María region. Over three days, 450 paramilitaries murdered 66 defenseless residents of the town; 12 of the victims were buried in mass graves by their families. Fifteen years later, and in the context of the return of nine of the 12 skeletal remains identified by the Attorney General's Office, the collective reparation measures undertaken by the Colombian State do not appear to satisfy the victims, who assert that much remains to be done in terms of truth, justice, and rebuilding the social fabric. In "El Salado, 15 Years Later," Contravía presents victims' analysis of the progress of collective reparations and their level of satisfaction with it. Their testimonies could provide the country with clues for a possible post-conflict era in Colombia. DIRECTOR: HOLLMAN MORRIS PRODUCER: JUAN PABLO MORRIS COLOMBIA
