During this, atrioventricular valves are open and semilunar valves are closed. Then atrioventricular valves close and ventricles contract as close chambers. Rising pressure in the ventricles opens the semilunar valves and blood is ejected from the ventricles into the major arteries. Then semilunar valves close and ventricles relax as close chambers. As pressure falls below that in the atria, the atrioventricular valves open and the next cycle begins with the filling of ventricles. The duration of one cycle is about 0.8 second. In this, 0.5 second is diastole. It includes isovolumetric relaxation and ventricular filling. Ventricular filling is further divided into rapid ventricular filling, diastasis, and atrial systole. Systole occurs for 0.3 second. It includes isovolumetric contraction and ejection phase. Ejection is sometimes divided into rapid ejection and slow ejection phases. Atrial systole coincides occurs during the end of the ventricular diastole. It lasts about 0.1 second. For the rest of the cardiac cycle, the atria are under diastole. 🎞 More videos on the Physiology of CVS • Renin Angiotensin Aldosterone System (RAAS): • You Will Be Able To ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS o... • Vasopressin: Synthesis, Release and Effects: • Vasopressin: Release and Mechanism of acti... • Baroreceptor Reflex: • Baroreceptor reflex for Short term regulat...
