Reginaldo Haslett-Marroquin -- Decolonizing and Indigenizing Regenerative Agriculture (part 1 of 3)
Part 1: Decolonizing the Mind and Indigenizing Purpose The first of a three-part series titled "Decolonizing and Indigenizing Regenerative Agriculture," Reginaldo begins with a discussion of decolonization of the mind and indigenizing purpose as a foundation of a process central to achieving regenerative agriculture outcomes. "We have lost our ways, but recovering and validating and adapting existing ancestral (indigenous) ways of being and knowing offers a path forward," explains Reginaldo. "Let's have a robust conversation about the ancestral ways that define regenerative thinking-- a concept that has been reduced to market claims and narrow agricultural practices. "Let's not colonize this space, instead, let's work with this way of thinking and doing things, of learning and living, so that it may help us heal the planet and reverse climate change, give us better relationships, and heal all living systems. "Let's resist the urge to turn this concept into a set of market claims to make a buck, or prop-up a product or company, to a set of agricultural practices. "Let's honor this way of thinking by allowing it to teach us how to achieve the greatest collective outcomes."
