Basadi ba Mintsu Encontra Noemia de Sousa

Basadi ba Mintsu is a collective of African, Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Cuban women who come together to celebrate art and their ancestry through their musicality, uniting elements and sounds of traditional African music (with mbiras, guitars, violin and percussion). The members of Basadi's musical and poetic escape are, Beauty Sitoe (Mozambique) Ekaterine James (Cuba), Serati (South Africa) and Yuru Yayungai (Brazil). Here we talk about the artistic residency that we did at Mafalala Museum in Maputo Mozambique. Mafalala is a township (ghetto) which is the home of some of the most influential artists and leaders of Mozambique, one of which is Noemia de Sousa. Here we encountered her story.
