From that date, a phase of guerrilla warfare began by around 7,000 Italians who refused to surrender. Furthermore, many indigenous people chose to actively collaborate with the Italian fighters. Cheren, vera porta dell’Eritrea, cade nel marzo 1941 ma la guerra non finisce lì. Da quella data inizia una fase di guerriglia da parte di circa 7.000 italiani che rifiutano di arrendersi, inoltre, molti indigeni scelgono di collaboare attivamente con i resistenti italiani.
