Today we will consider a step-up DC-DC converter, combined on one board with a lithium battery charging module. The step-up converter can output up to 27V, with a maximum input current of up to 2A. The charging board charges the battery with a current of 1A without turning off the step-up converter, and this is already an uninterruptible power supply with an adjustable voltage at the output. If you look at the chips used, this board is nothing more than a TP4056 module without protection and MT3608 combined together. Only this board is a little more compact, due to the use of a small low-speed resistor. And so, even the location of all the elements remained the same. For testing, I connected the board to an electronic load and soldered the battery. A small trimmer resistor is very inconvenient for setting the output voltage, I also had to select a screwdriver of the appropriate size for it. This electronic load is designed for high currents and it is impossible to set zero consumption on it. After connecting the converter, I rotated the resistor to obtain the maximum voltage at the output, but in the end I got a maximum of 7V at the output with a current of 1A, after which the current began to drop and the voltage decreased. I was twisting this resistor back and forth and couldn't figure out where these 27V were. Then I decided to check the voltage without a load and everything turned out to be fine. The maximum voltage is even higher than stated, 28 volts and more. Then I set the output to 5V and connected the load again. When the current increased to 1A, the voltage dropped to 4.9V. With this load, the board cannot output a higher voltage, since the protection is triggered due to overheating of the chip. The board can output no more than 5W, and with an output voltage of 27V, this is only 180 milliamps and more. Somehow, it's not enough. If you look at the test of the separately sold MT3608 board, its characteristics will be much better. Another disadvantage is the lack of protection against overdischarge, i.e. the battery will discharge to zero and only protected batteries should be used. For low-power consumers, this board can be used to make an uninterruptible power supply, but only use protected batteries.
