STB SA could increase the price of the trip to 7 lei The trade union movement must close ranks. This was the main topic of the National Council of the Federation of Trade Unions in Transport and Public Services – Romania (FSTSP) that took place on Thursday. In the first part of the meeting, the austerity measures proposed by the Romanian Government were presented, the influences and effects on state-owned companies, implicitly on employees, the solutions and steps that the Federation must take. Concrete problems of the unions within the Federation were discussed. In the case of STB SA, for example, solutions are being sought to resolve the 1.3 billion lei debt that the Company has. One of the measures would aim to increase the price of a trip, to 5 lei, or 7 lei. This fare increase was also mentioned by the mayor general, in a television show: "There will be unpopular measures. There will be, because the knife has effectively reached the bone. It is very likely - I am announcing this for the first time - and it is necessary to increase the price of the STB trip", Ciprian Ciucu told Euronews.
