whats biting in pawleys island right now 4/20/26 |myrtle beach surf fishing|

Surf fishing on Pawleys Island in mid-April can be unpredictable, and this trip was the perfect example. Most of the day the surf was pretty dirty, with churned-up water and low visibility, which made the bite slow early on. But if you fish the South Carolina coast long enough, you know conditions can change fast. Right in the middle of the trip we got about an hour of clean water pushing through the surf, and that’s when everything changed. As soon as that clearer water moved in, the bite turned on quick and the rods started bending. It’s a great reminder that sometimes the difference between a slow day and a great session is just waiting out the conditions and staying on the beach. Spring surf fishing along the Grand Strand is starting to heat up, and even with dirty water around, there are still feeding fish cruising the shoreline if you hit the right window. Mid-April can bring some really fun action from the sand if you’re patient and keep a line in the water. If you’re thinking about heading down to Pawleys Island, now is a great time to give it a shot. Keep an eye on the water clarity, fish the tide changes, and be ready when that clean water rolls through. 🎣 Let me know in the comments what you’ve been catching surf fishing lately!
