Inside Knock, Ireland’s Catholic Pilgrimage Town🇮🇪

Tucked away in the west of Ireland, Knock draws over 1.5 million visitors every year — yet many people outside the country have never heard of it. I travelled there to explore its history, see what life is like around the shrine, and understand why this quiet village became a global destination. Along the way, I wandered through its gardens, stepped inside the apparition chapel, and spoke with locals who keep Knock’s traditions alive. I also dug into the archives to uncover papal visits, famous faces, and moments that shaped Knock’s place in modern Ireland. This is more than a look at a pilgrimage site — it’s a story about Ireland’s past and present, and what happens when a place of deep faith meets a changing world.
