They are demanding that Gwangmyeong City take responsibility for the project, as it approved the recruitment of cooperative members. [Kim Cheong-il / Soha-dong, Gwangmyeong] "Gwangmyeong City issued a certificate of completion based on land approval, allowing the city to recruit members, but they are now claiming they are not responsible." The cooperative is also raising issues with the company that purchased the land, claiming they suffered losses during public auctions and other events on the land where the apartments were to be built. They claim they bear some responsibility, as they provided a land use consent form for the project. However, the construction company that purchased the project site stated, "While acknowledging that the land use consent form was signed, the contract was terminated due to the cooperative's failure to pay the deposit, and the land use consent form became invalid." That was the condition. They only received the land use consent form and never paid the deposit." As housing cooperative projects are struggling, the burden on cooperative members is snowballing. There are concerns that the damages per cooperative member, including already paid cooperative dues and service fees, could range from tens of millions to over 100 million won. If we don't achieve mutual prosperity with the community, we won't receive any of that money and will be forced out onto the streets. There are currently 240 members. Meanwhile, Gwangmyeong City maintains that the issue between the business and the cooperative requires legal review.
