Cocodona 250: Surviving Rain, Mud & Heat in the Desert
Running the Cocodona 250 miles ultra marathon is an epic adventure - a life changing journey of 250 miles across Arizona. Running for so long takes more than fitness - it takes mental toughness! Here is my experience running Cocodona 250 miles. If you feel my content as helped you along in your journey, I'd greatly appreciate your support. Please visit my Patreon: patreon.com/RunningwithSimon Over 5 days, we run across desertic plains, cross multiple mountain ranges, face the heat, the cold, the rain and the mud. Your body goes through so much, but also your mind. You learn a lot about yourself, and about the strength within yourself! But this year, I'm not fully alone! My wonderful wife Nora is pacing me for about 40 miles on the third day! This was a great moment on trail together - one of our best adventure as we go through the Red Rocks of Sedona, and climb the hangover trail with the dimming lights of sunset. We also had friends - Jeff Iosa (from Pacer Travel) and Gregg supporting in the last day. I needed all the help by then - so thank you! Cocodona 250 is rapidly becoming one of the most iconic ultra marathon in the US, and for good reasons. Aravaipa Running run a smooth race with great aid station, and is supported by countless dedicated volunteers. They brought me up from the dead on a few occasions! Aravaipa also had the wonderful idea of running smaller distance along the same(ish) course - namely Sedona Canyon 125, Mingus 82, Flagstaff Crest 38, and soon, the Brute 100 Miles. It was a great opportunity to meet and share miles countless runners having their own adventure! And also a great opportunity to run part of the course before diving into the longer Cocodona 250. It's my second year running the Cocodona 250 miles ultra marathon by Aravaipa Running. This year was totally different, but of course I suggest you have a look at my experience from last year, where we faced HOT weater...like really hot!
