Filed by Long Beach rapper RBX “on behalf of other members of the general public similarly situated,” the lawsuit claims Spotify’s platform has been used to artificially inflate Drake’s streams through bots, VPNs, and other coordinated methods siphoning royalties from legitimate artists and songwriters. Some key points from the lawsuit: The alleged fraud took place between Jan 2022 and Sept 2025. Over 37 billion streams of Drake’s music are allegedly “inauthentic” and linked to bot accounts. Certain accounts streamed his songs 23 hours a day, with abnormal VPN usage masking origins. Spotify uses a pro-rata payment system, so fake streams could reduce payouts to other artists.
