A rising star in French cinema! Oumi Bruni-Garrel's captivating film "Nene: A Dream of Etoile" has been unveiled! The story follows Nene, a young girl who overcomes circumstances, discrimination, and jealousy in her quest to become an "Etoile," the highest rank at the Paris Opera. Directed and written by French film's rising star Ramzi Ben Slimane, the film stars Oumi Bruni-Garrel, the adopted daughter of Louis Garrel and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, as the young ballerina Nene, performing with stunning energy and dancing. Acclaimed actress Maïwenn plays Marianne, the former star ballerina turned school principal who stands in Nene's way, while Cédric Kahn delivers a passionate performance as the Opera's director. The newly released footage begins with Nene introducing herself as she appears among the other applicants, telling their teachers about her prestigious ballet school and competition wins. With a confident smile and a calm demeanor, Nene enters the exam room and immediately tries to start dancing, but due to her lack of experience, one of the teachers asks, "Where did you learn to dance?" Nene explains, "First, it was an extracurricular activity in the fourth grade. It wasn't very good. Then I went to a place a little further away to learn. It was cool there, and I even did hip-hop." When Jean, the director of the Opera House, asks, "How did you prepare for the exam?" she calmly explains, "The principal watched videos of me as an étoile and I memorized it all. I even incorporated steps from the videos and dance freely." Compared to the other students who had been practicing at school in preparation for the exam, Nene calmly explains what she has learned by watching and memorizing. The music starts, and Nene goes over her routine once before dancing again. Nene's ballet, with its long limbs expressing suppleness and boldness, is so beautiful it's hard to believe she was self-taught, and it makes Jean smile. She gracefully lands her final jump and completes the exam. What was the result? "Nene: The Etoile" will be released on November 8, 2024.
