The Mar Menor is a small paradise located in southeastern Spain. With an area of 136 square kilometers, it is one of the largest hypersaline coastal lagoons in Europe and is separated from the Mediterranean Sea by a narrow strip of sand, enclosing a unique ecosystem. Unfortunately, in recent years, it has become famous for images of fish dying in its waters and also for the so-called "green soup." But where does this green soup come from?
