Intersection circle of a plane with a sphere: If you intersect a plane with a sphere, you get a circle as the intersection area. Unfortunately, there is no equation for a circle in three dimensions. Therefore, you normally "only" have to calculate the center and radius of the intersection circle. The center of the intersection circle is obtained by drawing a perpendicular line to E, passing through the center of the sphere, and then intersecting this perpendicular line with E. Using the sphere's radius, the distance from the sphere's center to the plane, and Pythagoras' theorem, you can determine the intersection circle's radius.
