How The Witcher 3 Destroyed Bethesda
In this video I discuss the impact the Witcher 3 had the entire open world RPG genre. From it's side quests, to it's characters, even to its writing, the game raised standards and expectations across the board. Since it's release we have seen other studios take note and not only replicate their formula, but in some cases, improve upon it! The Witcher 3 pushed boundaries and helped a lot of other great games garner inspiration. But there is one studio who did not benefit from this new entry, Bethesda. They used to be the main studio back in the day, the ones who were setting the standards. When the Witcher 3 released it highlighted how far Bethesda's game design had fallen behind. Despite other gaming studios catching up, Bethesda continued to struggle with the release of Starfield, and it received a lot of criticism. In this video I explain how the Witcher 3 is the main reason why, and had it not been made, Starfield may have gotten a pass.
