Episode 1: The Algonquin - CCS5 The Maritimes Golf Travel Documentary
In our debut of Canadian Classics Season 5 - The Maritimes, keep an eye out for: Introductions to two new cast members; Emil Weber (co-founder of Depeche Golf) and Matt Cardis (founder of @golfinyourstate), who will be tagging along for our journey throughout the maritimes. Zach Rodrigue (Director of Golf) & Steve Williams (Head Superintendent) who provide an overview of the history of The Algonquin, along with a turfgrass management perspective. An inside scoop from the Whitman, Axland, Cutten camp on some of the routing, bunkering and greensite changes over the past decade. In some ways, The Algonquin was representative of what followed throughout the entire season; both from a golf, and a journey point of view. Generally, all the boys are short on sleep already. Cardis points out that it would’ve been nice to avoid crashing with a complete stranger on the first night of the trip. Emil points out that The Algonquin played similarly to all our stops this season (firm, bouncy turf conditions where land meets sea). ‘Strong’ & ‘developing situation’ are words the group threw around to characterize their experience.
