Iomega Zip Drive & Tools (1994) - Time Travel
In late 1994, Iomega introduced the Zip Drive, which was a new type of storage device. The original model could support 100 MB Zip disks, with future models supporting up to 750 MB disks. Iomega included a software suite called Zip Tools that was designed to make the storage system much easier to use. In this video, we take a look at the hardware and the software that made up the Zip experience. The Zip format never really overtook floppy diskettes as the storage standard, and re-writable CDs (and later DVDs) could hold much more data then a Zip disk. This led to the Zip format dying out in the early 2000s. ========================================== More on Iomega and the Zip drive http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zip_drive ========================================== Follow Me: Twitter: / mjdtweets Google+: http://gplus.to/mjdyt ========================================== Music/Credits: Intro music: Approaching Nirvana - Even While Buy on iTunes: http://bit.ly/v1isq8 Background/Outro music: http://www.incompetech.com & PASSPORT.MID from Windows 95 Intro created by: / airmagine Some materials in this video are used under Section 107 of the Copyright Act of 1976, which allows "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, commenting, news reporting, teaching, and research.
