Alstor 833 med band (4k)
http://skogsforum.se/viewtopic.php?f=... Skogsforum has been visiting company Alstor located in Swedish town Dingle, which among other things produces the popular mini-forwarder Alstor. We got a history briefing, a factory visit and the opportunity to test drive a Alstor 833 in it´s true element - the forest. Right from the start there are som base characters of an Alstor machine; eight wheels, operating on all wheels, high maneuverability and a minimal amount of things that can fall apart. Of course, there has been an evolution of the machine, but the basic concept remains. Initially there was an Volvo M40 gearbox in Alstor. The reason is simple, M40 gearbox is an engineering masterpiece as it is small and lightweight, yet extremely reliable. M40 box were built for Volvo 140 series and was four-speed manual transmission. It is now replaced by a newer transmission. One of the reasons was that it was becoming difficult to get hold of them when they are no longer manufactured and those who could be found were most often in poor condition. The variator belt drive has been around all the time and it is for the simple reason that it is simple and functional. The advantage is that you can crawl with the machine, and as most people know it's an incredible advantage to be able to do this in the forest. The belt is the only wearing part of this operating unit. It is inexpensive and easy to change but are still working for a surprising number of operating hours. Various Alstor machines over the years In the 20 years since its inception as of course has a product development been made continuously. With just Alstor it has not always been seen on the outside. Here is a rundown of the various milestones in the development of the machine: 1996: First Alstor built, called after one year "Alstor 8x8". It was available in two versions, both with petrol engine from Vanguard, 16 alt 18 hp. 2005: Released an upgraded version that is still called 8x8. This has among other things, enhanced waist, new stronger boggies and more. 2006: Alstor 8x8 is also available with a diesel engine from Kubota. 2007: Can be ordered with a cab. 2010: Kristian comes in as President and decides to invest fully in Alstorn. 2011: The 800 series is released. A number of improvements are implemented and Alstor now have dual controls, hydraulic brakes and more. Petrol engine version is called 810, diesel 820 and cab version 830. 2013: Alstor 821 is released. A new Alstor from scratch manufactured to meet the demands of forestry contractors in Central Europe. New, stronger waist, new boggies and more. With 821 they replaced the diesel engines to the 3-cylinder CAT engine (from the previously used Kubota). Version with a cabin was called 831. Alstor processor version is also shown for the first time - Alstor 300, an 821 with a Hypro 300 processor on the carrier. 2015 Alstor 833 with new cab is released. Based on the 821, but with new and improved cab improves comfort for the driver. 2016: Alstor is available with bogie tracks in plastic material, manufactured in Småland, Sweden. To further minimize ground pressure on sensitive ground. These are mounted in the video above. 8x8 is 8x8 Alstor like to show that their machines have high accessibility. Everyone knows that if they visited Elmia and their famous Alstor-hill. The reason is partly high ground clearance but mainly to Alstor not have any differentials, it is 100% differential lock at all time! If we start with the engine the power goes through variable speed gear, a motor shaft and a drive train with only the belt drive in between. Via the triple gear box an 1: 1 systems takes over with shafts and chains feeding the power to the four boggies. The boggies have chain drive directly to each wheel and with this you get eight-wheel-drive for real. Why do bigger machines have differentials? It is simply that Alstor requires less power and they can build a powertrain that will not break for the power in the CAT diesel engine.
